Chileans of the North Documentary Film Screening with Q&A with Director, Chris Paul

September 23 @ 14:00

As part of our programme to mark Chile 50 Years UK and the launch of our Documenting Chile Archiving Project at the Refugee Council Archive at UEL, on the Saturday 23rd September, we are pleased to be able to host a documentary screening of Chileans of the North by documentary filmmaker Chris Paul. Chileans of the North explores the story of the Chilean refugees who arrived after the 1973 coup and made a new home in South Yorkshire.

The Chileans who settled in Yorkshire share what happened at the time of the coup, what it was like to start a new life in the UK, and how activism and solidarity brought a community together. It’s a story that spans two continents and 50 years. The Screening will take place in our Main Lecture Theatre on the University of East London Docklands Campus, which is situated adjacent the University Archives where we will be hosting the Documenting Chile Launch and Open Day.

The Chileans of the North Screening with start at 2pm and be followed by a Q&A session with the Director.
